April 17, 2011
Coverage continues of homophobia in the Catholic school system and specifically the ban by Ontario’s Catholic tax-payer funded School Boards of Gay Straight Alliance student clubs, also referred to as GSAs.
This week the Centre for Inquiry’s Think Again! TV attended a public forum hosted by a group called Queer Ontario. The panel was called “Sex Ed, GSAs and Religion” and consisted of speakers from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Toronto Public Health, LGBTQ Parenting Network, Salaam, a gay muslim advocate organization, and most excitingly the student founders of the still unapproved St. Joseph Secondary School Gay Straight Alliance.
In follow up segments we’ll interview Salaam’s leader El Farouk Khaki as well as those courageous students. But first, Think Again TV’s interview of the only sitting politician in attendance, Rosario Marchese, New Democrat Member of Provincial Parliament for Trinity Spadina, the riding in which the Centre for Inquiry’s national headquarters is located, and the critic for Training, Colleges and Universities.
